ALBANY, NY – The City of Albany and St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee have announced the annual parade will shift to a virtual event held on Saturday, March 13, with a slate of activities and performances that will be accessible via: albanystpatricksdayparade.com. The City’s main priority is ensuring the health and safety of our residents and our community.

“It’s hard to believe it’s already been one year since we had to make a last-minute decision to cancel the Albany St. Patrick’s Day parade and festivities due to the first two cases of COVID-19 being diagnosed in Albany County,” said Albany Mayor Kathy Sheehan. “I was hopeful that this year would present better circumstances, but unfortunately we must continue to follow COVID protocols and do our part to deter large gatherings and continue to flatten the curve. Despite the different look of this year’s parade day, I encourage you to enjoy the virtual celebration that the Parade Committee has put together for this year.”

“While we are very disappointed that we will not be able to present the annual Albany St. Patrick’s Day parade again this year, we share the City’s interest in protecting public health during the pandemic. Instead of marching in person on Parade Day, the United Irish Societies of the Capital District and our St. Patrick’s Day Parade Committee will present a virtual celebration fitting of our Irish heritage and we encourage our friends throughout the Capital Region to join us to share in the festivities,” said Tim Carey, President of the United Irish Societies of the Capital Region.

The Parade Day virtual events will begin with the traditional mass at Blessed Sacrament Church at 10 AM. A full schedule of events is being finalized.  For more information, please visit the Parade Committee website at albanystpatricksdayparade.com.
