Administration

The Administration Division is the liaison with various other City Departments. This Division interacts with the Treasurer's Office, Comptrollers Office, Corporation Counsel, Civil Service/Administration, Administrative Services and Budget Office among others.

Under the direction of Deputy Chief Abriel, the division is responsible for maintaining a complete personnel file of official records of every member throughout their careers. This includes medical, disciplinary, and payroll records. The division works closely with the Department Surgeon in monitoring the progress and treatment of all department members. Along with this responsibility, the division supervises the "Light Duty Program".

The Administration Division also handles the Computer Network in the department. This includes the Incident Reporting program, Personnel Scheduling, and the system in each of the firehouses. This division also coordinates the scheduling of vacations, and time off for department members. Yearly Incident Report statistics are compiled and forwarded to the New York State Office of Fire Prevention and Control (O.F.P.C.).

The Administration Division also reviews and investigates cases of departmental charges, grievances, disciplinary hearings, contract negotiations and court cases. This requires a close relationship with the City Corporation Counsel's Office and the Albany Permanent Association of Firefighters, Local #2007.
