Snow and Ice Removal

The Department of General Services is responsible for all snow plowing and ice treatment on City of Albany streets. DGS has on an average of 48 inches of snow to contend with in a year. DGS works with contracted snow removal companies to ensure that driver's in the City of Albany are safe.

They are also dedicated to making sure that all sidewalks are clear in the city so pedestrians can walk safely and without complication. On sidewalks in the public right of way, legally the responsibility of the homeowner, the city oversees that the walk is cleared within 24 hours of the secession of the snowfall.
