Special Operations

Special Operations is located at 526 Central Avenue and is under the supervision of a uniformed Commander who oversees the Traffic Safety Division, Mounted Unit, K-9 Unit, Traffic Engineering, Public Safety Officers, Strategic Deployment Unit, Animal Control, and the Scuba Team.

The Special Operations Unit provides auxiliary support to the Patrol Division and Detective Division. The units incorporated within Special Operations perform a wide variety of specialized tasks.

Officers assigned to Special Operations respond to criminal investigations, traffic accident investigations, protests and demonstrations, perform dignitary protection, coordinate all large special events in the city, funeral details, traffic enforcement details, parades, fleet maintenance, parking enforcement and community policing.
