The City has completed its second mailing of tax bills, paid for our tax billing vendor in order to be sure that everyone properly receives their bill. (In the first mailing of tax bills some individuals were not mailed their bills by the City’s vendor.)
The second mailing of bills is clearly marked as a 2nd notice and includes an explanation from our office to avoid confusion.
Of course, taxpayers need to pay only one property tax bill and the City will return any duplicate payments that may be received.
If your mortgage/escrow company pays your property taxes for you and you received a bill, your mortgage/escrow should not be affected, as those companies have an obligation to pay your taxes. However, if you have any questions about your mortgage/escrow account, you should first contact your company for more information and to ensure they have your correct tax information, as errors in these cases are rare and are correctable on their end. Most escrowed taxes are paid at the end of January.
Part of the upgrade of our billing software also included the ability to directly e-mail copies of tax bills and receipts. Anyone who would like an e-copy of their tax bill or receipt
can submit their information below to receive a copy as soon as possible. You may also view, print and/or pay your property tax bill here: albany.munitrax.com//pub/login/Default.aspx
(payment by credit card or direct transfer from your checking account accepted; fees apply).
Finally, please note that while the usual due date for property tax payments in Albany is January 31st, because that date in 2016 falls on a Sunday, all property taxes are due and, if mailed, must be postmarked by February 1st, 2016. Under New York State law, penalties MUST be added if a payment is late under all circumstances, even in the case of municipal error, and municipalities have no discretion to waive the interest added for late payments.
Please input the information below and we will email you your tax bill.
