Why Take Action?

Climate change is already here. Storms are more intense. Extreme heat is exacerbating sickness, violence, and food insecurity. Overheating oceans are destroying coral reefs and eliminating fisheries. Wildfires are destroying forests and leaving communities in ashes.

In responding to climate change, we need to center climate justice. Those with low incomes and people of color (who have contributed the least to climate change) face harsher impacts than anyone else and need more resources to reduce emissions and adapt to what is coming.

We are at a tipping point. Scientists report that we have ten years to make rapid and transformative reductions in emissions. If we take action, we can halt and possibly roll back the worst consequences of climate change.

If we don't act, future generations will remember this decade as the time we missed a chance at a more sustainable future .
