On Saturday June 19, the Albany Department of Recreation partnered with USA Boxing and the Adirondack Association to host an Adirondack LBC Test event. The event’s purpose was to complete a trial run of how an actual boxing exhibition would work, including handling any technical issues and COVID-19 protocols. Though the event did not allow spectators, the goal is to make the changes necessary so that events like this could be held throughout the summer for community enjoyment.
Boxers from across New York State were able to spar during the event as there were around 11 matches held. The Albany Department of Recreation encourages those who are interested in boxing to check out our public Quail St. Boxing gym. You can also be on the lookout for any boxing events that we announce during the upcoming summer weeks.
