Jack has lived in Albany for over 25 years. At age twelve, Jack moved from Watervliet to Albany’s 8th Ward with his mother and four siblings after his father, John Flynn, passed away from Leukemia. Jack attended elementary and middle school at St. Catherine of Siena. He then attended high school at Christian Brothers Academy. Jack earned an Associate's Degree from Hudson Valley Community College. After HVCC, he went to SUNY Albany where he studied Political Science and Criminal Justice. Jack took a management position with Regal Entertainment.
Jack left the private sector to pursue a career in public service at the New York State Bill Drafting Commission. His hard work paid off through a promotion where he drafted appropriation bills for the NYS budget. In 2010, Jack took a position as an Education Specialist with the Albany County Board of Elections. Throughout these years, Jack has taken an active role in many political campaigns and used his drive and strong work ethic to make this area a better place to live. In 2006, he became a Committee Member in the 8th ward. During this time he attended numerous Common Council Meetings as well as County Legislator Meetings to help educate himself on the dealings of the city. He has since been appointed to Deputy Ward Leader for the 8th Ward.
Jack is raising his two daughters in Albany. In addition to his political aspirations, he takes an active role in the lives of his children through coaching, volunteering at school events, and providing a loving home. Jack is also a local CYO, high school, and college basketball official.
As an active member of the community, Jack knows firsthand the important role the neighborhoods and residents play in our community. As a Common Council Member, Jack works with residents, community leaders and elected officials to make sure our neighborhoods continue to be an attractive and safe place to raise a family.
