Deirdre Brodie

Common Council
Title: Ward 6 Representative

Deirdre is an active resident of the same square mile for the past 20 years as a renter, homeowner, and engaged neighborhood leader. Her deep roots in the community coupled with a successful career in government nationally and locally give her the experience and skills to lead the diverse 6th Ward at the heart of Albany.

She began her career serving as an AmeriCorps volunteer at the MATCH School in Boston after receiving her BA from Tufts University. She went on to be the Albany County Executive's Health and Human Services Policy Analyst before earning her MPA from the University at Albany. She then gained broad experience collaborating with over a dozen state and local governments as they modernized their human services programs as part of KPMG's government advisory practice. She now works at Binti, an innovative tech company focusing on improving child welfare outcomes.

In addition to being a former leader on the Washington Park Neighborhood Association board, she has served on the board of Vanderheyden for over a decade and recently joined the Albany Symphony Orchestra board. She was also recognized by the Albany Business Review's 40 Under 40. These experiences have led Deirdre to believe that government can be an innovative and effective force for good when guided by the citizens it serves.
