The Citizen's Self Service (CSS) Portal is where you can go to find information about a property from the records of the Department of Buildings & Regulatory Compliance. You can find information such as:
- Construction Permits (such as Building, Plumbing Electrical, Elevator)
- Permit Status
- Inspector
- Permitted Work
- Residential Occupancy Permits (ROPs)
- Status
- Number of Rental Units
- Code Cases
- Case Status
- Violations
- Registry Programs - current status
- Elevator
- Public Assembly
- Sprinkler
- Vacant Building
- Construction Permits (such as Building, Plumbing Electrical, Elevator)
- How frequently is the data uploaded?

All data is current with our system as it is a live link and does not rely on uploading.
- Can I use this to look up whether a property has a ROP?

Yes, all data is linked to the CSS Portal in live time and is an accurate portrayal of our internal data. If we have a record of an ROP being issued it will appear on the CSS Portal.
- I lost the document(s) sent to me, can I access them on the Public Portal?

You have the ability to download the following documents from the CSS Portal:
- Residential Occupancy Permit
- Residential Occupancy Placard
- Construction Permit Placard
- Maximum Occupancy Placard
- Elevator Certificate
- Public Assembly Certificate
- Commercial Inspection Certificate
For records older than 2023 all of these documents may not be available on-line, call our office with the record number and we will be happy to provide them.
- Are there plans to expand the CSS Portal?

Yes, we are implementing the CSS Portal in phases. Future phases include the ability to:
- Submit registrations on-line such as:

- I found information on the portal that I think is incorrect, what should I do?

There is a link on the portal to dispute information found. Once you submit the information, we will look into the data and provide a determination/explanation of the dispute investigation.
