CPTED Assessment Request

Thank you for your interest in improving safety and security in your community. The City of Albany offers Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) site visits as a free service to residents, businesses, and community organizations.

The CPTED program identifies environmental factors which can affect human behavior including the concepts of Natural Surveillance, Access Control, Territoriality and Maintenance. An assessment focuses on how the physical environment influences criminal activity by restricting unwanted behavior, fostering a sense of ownership and safety in the community, and emphasizing upkeep of structures in a community.

CPTED focuses on proactive strategies to reduce crime and enhance the quality of life through thoughtful design and use of space. During a site visit, our trained staff will assess your property and provide practical recommendations related to lighting, visibility, access control, landscaping, and overall safety. A site visit will be conducted at minimum by your Neighborhood Engagement Unit Officer and Neighborhood Specialist. Other city staff may attend the visit depending on the needs of your location.

Please complete the form below to request a site visit. A team member will contact you to schedule an appointment and discuss your concerns or goals.
