Light Up the Block - Holiday Decorating Contest

Join us in bringing some winter cheer to the streets and neighborhoods in Albany. This year The Department of Neighborhood  Services will be running the first annual Light Up The Block Decorating Contest. Everyone in the city is encouraged to compete and we will select a winner from five different sections of the city. You can enter your own residence, your business or you can join up with your friends or neighbors to decorate as a group.  

We are taking submissions now until Sunday December 14th and then a panel vote will be held to select a winner from each section by Friday December 19th.  Winners will be notified by Monday December 22nd. 

The following are the five sections of competition include the following neighborhoods 

Section 1:  Downtown, Warehouse, Sheridan Hollow, Ten Broeck, North Albany, Shaker Park/Bishop's Gate, Arbor Hill

Section 2: South End, Historic Pastures, Mansion, Second Ave, Delaware, Mt. Hope, Lincoln Park, Port of Albany

Section 3:  West End, West Hill. Central Ave Corridor, Washington Square, Beverwyck

Section 4: Center Square, Helderberg, Hudson Park, New Scotland/Woodlawn, Normanskill, Park South Washington Park, Whitehall. 

Section 5: Pine Hills, Eagle Hills, New Albany, Melrose, Manning, Upper Washington, Pine Bush, Dunes, Buckingham Lake and Campus

You can enter one of three ways: 

1) Fill out the form below and provide a picture of you entry, 

2) Contact your Neighborhood Specialist who can submit an entry on your behalf or, 

3) Tag us in a picture of your entry on Facebook and we will get the information from you to submit your entry.
