Albany Department of Fire and Emergency ServicesSummer Cadet Program

The Albany Department of Fire and Emergency Services Summer Cadet Program serves as a means of personal development for the youths of the City of Albany, as well as a recruiting pool for the Fire Department.

The Summer Cadet Program gives up to 12 young people the chance to learn about their City's Fire, Rescue, and Emergency Medical Services response organizations in a safe, controlled, educational, and fun way. Reaching out to people when they are young has long-range effects, and encouraging youths to take part in the emergency services is extremely beneficial to our citizens.

Benefits of the Summer Cadet Program include:

  • Allowing youth to gain insight and interest in becoming long-term members of the emergency services
  • Increasing awareness among youth about the fire and emergency services
  • Leadership development for Albany's youth, who are tomorrow's leaders
