Quail Street Boxing Gym Programming

Boxing Classes

Quail Street Boxing Gym provides complimentary boxing classes for Albany residents, catering to students ages 6+ of all skill levels.  The Department of Recreation has various boxing coaches who instruct fundamental boxing skills and techniques.

Classes encompass:

  • Cardio
  • Shadowboxing
  • Bag Work
  • Calisthenics
  • Basic Self-Defense

Personal Trainer Sessions 

Quail Street Boxing Gym provides free training sessions by our certified personal trainer Scott Lasher.  Training sessions can be scheduled with Scott by walk-ins are always welcome!  Training sessions run Monday-Friday 1pm-6pm.

The Bright Minds Afterschool Program provides a safe space for youth to complete assignments and develop essential skills for community involvement. With support from recreation staff, the program fosters confidence, critical thinking, and curiosity.

Dive into painting, clay, collage, origami, vision boards, and more. Learn new skills, explore different materials, and create art you can take home or display at our community center. At the end of the program, pick your favorite piece to showcase in a special art show with friends and family. Get inspired, get messy, and let your creativity shine!

Open Gym is a drop-in activity, which means there's no need to register in advance.  However, you will need an Albany Rec membership to participate. Open Gym is accessible to both adults and youth on weekdays


 




Arbor Hill Womens Self Defense




Women's Self Defense

Learn practical skills and strategies to feel safe and confident with R.A.D. Systems Inc. Week one covers survival discussions, weeks two and three focuses on hands-on training, and week four includes full-contact scenarios. This course is taught in a safe, supportive environment. Appropriate workout attire required.

*Reminder: You MUST attend the first class to participate in the other classes.

Anime Pixel Club




Anime Pixel Club

Are you an Anime fan? Come join us in a weekly gathering where fans of ages from 13 and up can come watch anime, participate in anime related cosplay, play some anime trivia and get creative in drawing some anime characters. Each week come watch an episode and have a discussion about the anime film. They participate in an activity related to the film and discussion.
